Welcome to Exodus Church. We are a Bible based, Christ-centered church preaching and teaching the way out of darkness into the marvelous light of Jesus Christ.
Pastor Donald R. Owens and twelve faithful followers of Jesus Christ organized Exodus Missionary Baptist Church on June 14, 2003 at 2:00 o’clock pm at the home of Pastor Donald and First Lady Beverly Owens.
From June through August 2003, Exodus Missionary Baptist Church met in the home of Pastor and Sis.Owens. On September 07, 2003, Exodus held its Inaugural Worship Service at 2590 Main Street, Lemon Grove, California 91945 at 11:00 a.m. and Pastor Owens’ message was “For Such A Time As This” with approximately one hundred people in attendance.
From September 4, 2003 to March 13, 2005, Exodus continued to grow physically and spiritually as a church family. God moved upon the heart of Pastor Owens and Exodus stepped out on faith and on March 13, 2005, Exodus Missionary Baptist Church celebrated its final Worship Service at The Lemon Grove Masonic Lodge and moved to 3295 Meade Ave, San Diego, California 92116, on Sunday, March 20, 2005
In 2010, Exodus move to 3020 Broadway, San Diego, California for two years and later return to 3295 Meade Ave, San Diego, California where we currently praise and worship our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
In January 2013, Pastor Owens presented the church with a unique proposal to become United Methodist. The church voted unanimously to become United Methodist and to join with the three United Methodist ministries into one congregation. In March 2014, Bishop Minerva Carcano and District Superintendent John Farley met with the ministerial leadership. Present at the meeting was Pastor Jenkins, Pastor Owens, Lay Pastor Stump, Lay Pastor Reyes, Lay Pastor Elise to discuss the chartering of a new Methodist Church in San Diego in over 30 years, namely Exodus United Methodist Church.
On February 15, 2015, Exodus United Methodist Church held it charge conference and four ministries joined together to become Exodus United Methodist Church. In June 2015 at California-Pacific Annual Conference, Exodus United Methodist Church received its official charter. Rev. Dr. Donald Owens was appointed by the Annual Conference as Pastor of Exodus United Methodist Church.
We thank God for bringing us this far by faith. Our success is because of our commitment to follow the teaching of Jesus Christ. With God’s blessing the Exodus Family will continue to celebrate our Scholarship Day, Church and Pastor Anniversaries and support our Outreach, Men, Mission, Titus II, Children, Convalescent Home, Sick and Visitation Ministries and providing Thanksgiving Meals. We will remain steadfast in our faith and spread the Good News of the Gospel Jesus Christ on our jobs and in our home. We will actively participate in the Annual Conference, Outreach Program to reach San Diego, California for Jesus Christ. We are a Family Oriented Church, Preaching, Teaching and Singing Praises to God. We have the faith to believe that nothing is impossible with God.
